Resting Wren, Part 1

Episode Guide »
In this opening segment Jerry blocks in the entire painting creating the backdrop for the wren. Starting with a tinted canvas, Jerry blocks in the sky using a vivid turquoise that will make the Wren pop. The foreground grasses are painted in loosely and much attention is given to paint a fence post and wooden rails as the center of interest on which the bird will perch. The final step is to provide more detail on the foreground weeds, providing both contrast and overlap to help create depth in the painting.
