Episode Guide »
WANDA JACKSON is widely known and respected as "The Queen of Rockabilly." Jackson is credited with being the first woman to ever record a rock and roll song-"Let's Have a Party" in 1958. In 2009, Jackson was inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" and, in 2010, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americana Music Awards. Wanda returns to the WoodSongs Stage to celebrate the release of her 31st studio album Unfinished Business produced by Justin Townes Earle on Sugar Hill Records. SHEMEKIA COPELAND has evolved from a teenage upstart to one of the most prominent voices in the blues. She's currently the most feted woman in the blues world and actually had a coronation where she was crowned and declared "Queen of the Blues" at the Chicago Blues Festival in 2011. Shemekia earned her crown with a series of high-quality recordings and an unrelenting tour schedule including a memorable performance at the White House in front of an audience that included the President of the United States, sharing the bill with Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, B.B. King and other greats. Her latest is 33 1/3 on Telarc International.
